Year 1
In Year 1 the teacher is Mrs Jenman . Our Year 1 Teaching Assistant is Mrs Hather. There are 20 children in our class and we’re all looking forward to a great year!

Writing themes include stories linked to our own experiences, instructions and repeated patterns. We will be concentrating on writing on the line, spaces between words, full stops and forming letters correctly.
In reading, we will begin ‘Guided Reading,’ where we read and talk about the text in small groups, using books from the SoundsWrite scheme, as well as Floppy;s phonics, Oxford Reading Tree and Songbirds, all of which have be aligned to the SoundsWrite progression . We will make predictions about characters and events, and we will describe settings and characters.
We will have a daily phonics lesson , following the SoundsWrite scheme,
Please remember to listen to your child read every day as it is so important for them to practise the skills they are learning in school.
In PE we will be doing games and gymnastics – our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday and we will be working inside and outside, depending on the weather.
